About

Welcome! I appreciate you stopping by. I’ll start with the name of this site. A double meaning.

Nine to five travelers.. meaning we’re currently working 9 to 5 jobs with a traditional salary, while travelling.
And yet at the same time we’re working our way to set our lives up to be travelling full time, hence Nine to Five Traveler’s.

My first name is Tim, my wife’s name is Janetta and we have a 1 year old named Josiah (JoJo for short).

My wife and I were both born in Vancouver, Washington, United States. Both of us are first generation immigrants with our families moving to the states either right before or right after we were born. Both of our families come from Ukraine. My family is specifically from the city of Zaporizhzhia, the eastern side of Ukraine. Both my wife and I speak fluent Russian and English.

My Life of Travel: The Beginning

Here’s the short story.

My family has been doing many little trips ever since I was a kid. Traveling to many different states, Mexico and Canada. Traveling was a bug I caught early on in life. I itched for the feeling of being on the road, seeing new sights never before seen, new foods never before tasted, and new destinations on end.

When I graduated high school my plan was this: to backpack around Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam and then return home and start a career in sports medicine.

The funny thing is, that adventure never even happened. But another one did. Instead my father brought up the idea to go on an epic month trip through Europe together.

And so I did, but not after I met a girl. Ahh the true start of every boy’s story.

A year later I married the love of my life Janetta. I pushed myself to kickstart my career, as well as start a side business, and yet during all of that we still were able to have many travels and trips together ourselves for a few years.

Then we decided we were ready for a new kind of adventure. One that runs, and talks and cries, a lot. HA. Our son Josiah was born in 2021 and what a blessing he’s been to our lives.

Go figure, I never would have imagined this would be my life! And in a good way, I’m surrounded by people that love and depend on me. But if I’m being honest after having a kid, and being hunkered down for quite some time to settle into the new found role of being a father. Something about it made that travel bug itch more than ever before. So here we are. This our plan,

to start this blog feeding and encouraging our deep spiritual desire to travel. And as we build this Blog we are believing that this will one day be our nine to five job, full time travelers.

Where I’ve Been

The adventure has so far involved over 15+ countries on 4 continents as a teen and with my wife.

As a beach addict, I’ve traveled to the many islands of Hawaii, Croatia, Greece and much of the Mediterranean. Thailand, Mexico, Caribbean and every nice beach I could find in Florida and California. Our last trip was more boujee than we typically do it but that was because we did it with a group of friends and wanted to experience the best that All-Inclusive Mexico has to offer. Check this post out to hear more about that !

While in Ukraine, I was kidnapped by local soldiers and shocked them with my Russian after I told them I was from the US.

Our next big ticket trip on the list is… ITALY. Been a dream of ours for a while now and we want to do it right, so stay tuned !

Today, I work as a salary position for a construction development company, as well as own my own online marketing company.

It’s been an absolutely wild ride to say the least, but I still know that this is only the beginning, so cheers to you for being here and joining the rest of our journey.

What Will You Find at Nine to Five Travelers?

The purpose of this website is simple.

I want to use my own experiences to prove that long-term travel does not have to be a crazy fantasy. It can, and should be, a realistic lifestyle option instead.

That’s the reason why so many people started blogs and many years later are only doing that. It can be a rewarding financial gig and self sustaining.

Through my own adventures – from the incredible moments and rewarding interactions to the struggles and major challenges – I aim to provide a realistic and honest account of what transitioning from a traditional full time salary job to long-term travel looks like and how you can work on achieving such a goal yourself.

And if long-term travel isn’t what you’re looking for, I’m confident that my experiences can help you with whatever kind of travel you’re looking to do. If you love travel in general, you’re in the right place…and I want to assist as best I can!
